Golden

Oh how I love the Golden Globes - the awkward table setup so that it takes winners forever to get to the stage and they do that shuffle and look confused as to the best path; the irreverent winner speeches at the end of the night when everyone has had a little too much to drink; the great clothes; seeing the footage of them mingling during breaks. It was fun again this year. I made quesadillas to eat while I watched (I experimented with using dried beans, T, and definitely didn't cook them well enough...hmmm...guess I need more practice). My one complaint about the show this year - well two really: First of all, how could Neil Patrick Harris not win? And secondly, could Brad and Angelina not be invited next year? They just looked so bored the whole time, which is totally against the spirit of the GG's - save that for the Oscar's. And bless Kate Winslet's heart for briefly forgetting that Angelina was nominated in the category with her in her acceptance speech! Loved it!

Kate Winslet also forgot that Anne Hathaway was nominated! However, I just love her, so I will give her a break. I've been wanting to see Revolutionary Road, and how cute was she thanking Leo? And I hate Titanic...

You know that I didn't realize until 7:30pm last night that the Globes were even on?!? That's not like me. I guess they were early this year.

Re: NPH losing - this is what happens when you have actors from John Adams and HIMYM nominated in the SAME category. It's silliness, but one of the things that you accept because it's the Golden Globes and just the best night ever.

Brad and Angelina DID look bored!!

Interesting about the dried beans. I know you're supposed to soak them overnight, did you do that? I've only used dried beans once.

I did the quick soak where you boil them for 2 minutes and then let them sit in the hot water for an hour. I trusted the timeframe and guess I need to taste test them next time before I remove them from the hot water. Oh well - lesson learned!

Oh, that's good to know about the quick soak. You know I will continue to buy the canned beans :-) They are just too easy!

Jeff's rule is that a one time TV event will always beat out a running series because NPH could theoratically win it another year, but John Adams only has this chance.

I had totally forgotten about the Globes too. Did you guys catch the reference in my status update on Facebook? I love everyone attempting to make their way to the front. I love that people present with booze in their hands, and Kate forgetting Angelina was priceless. (Did you hear that Brangelina snubbed Ryan Secrest on the red carpet? Now, I loathe Secrest so I was secretly happy about that.)

Everytime I heard that who the nominees were in an any category up against John Adams, I said forget it- John Adams is going to win everything.

How great was NPH on SNL? The talk show with three-named celebrities hysterical!
