I've been ignoring it for some time, not wanting to admit that I have a problem. But my lawn is winning. Or maybe my reel mower is losing. Ever since my backyard neighbor took down his large cherry tree (and the shade it provided), my backyard has been growing like a weed (well, it is made of weeds, so I guess that's only natural). As I'm not the homeowner and don't want the expense of grass seed or aerating or anything technical like that, I'm doing the best I can with what I have.
First step is trying to figure out how to best sharpen/adjust my reel mower so that has a fighting chance. But, I think I may need to buckle down and buy a power mower. Of course this mower will be cordless and electric (boogie, woogie, woogie). I don't need to worry about oil changes and storing gas, especially since I don't have a shed and this mower will live folded up in the crawlspace under the house. Plus, better for the environment makes me feel better. There are two at the top of my list right now: Neuton 5 and Earthwise. I've read a few articles (and many reviews) and I think both sound like a winner. I'm leaning toward the Neuton for its cool green look. Is that wrong?

Perhaps this is a dumb question but do you have to mow? Most renters around here don't do it - the landlord has to do it himself or hire out. Is it in your lease that you have to maintain the lawn?
Sadly it is in my lease that I have "yard maintenance, snow removal,..." and I forget what else. They are pretty hands-off landlords. Guess that's a blessing and a curse!
I feel your pain - although it sucks even more that you do so much maintenance on grass (lush green weeds)that you don't own (stupid lazy landlord!). Are these fancy (and pricey) lawnmowers really more "green" than a basic electric plug-in type from Lowe's? Seems like extra money for enviro-marketing?
They're cordless - that's the difference. I have no outside plug, so key for me unless I want to run extension cords out of my windows. In the end I likely won't spend the money but love to dream...
