bright spot

The sun is shining today. Which is a lovely change from that last week or so, with gray gloomy days stretching into frigid nights. I feel chilled to the bone and can't seem to warm up despite hot baths and cozy blankets. After my lunch break today, I plan on walking over to another building to meet with a coworker. I'll enjoy soaking in some sun.

In the meantime, I've been trying to get some things done around the house - tidying up and whatnot. I even got around to installing a little reading lamp above the corner of the couch; a perfect spot for reading or crafting in the evening hours (a previously lost corner light-wise). Nothing fancy, and its presence does accentuate my need for more wall art, but it will do.

And the orchid, oh the orchid, has bloomed up a storm. I've been spending a lot of time working at the desk in the office/guest room (instead of randomly using my laptop in bed or the couch), so I've been enjoying her company and the spot of bright color on the long gray days.

Here's hoping our groundhog friend was right and that spring is on its way...

Amen to that. All I could think of when I saw your lap is that my kids would destory it - first thing they would do is pull on the cord. :) I'm glad the weather is better in your part of the country!

Cute lamp - is it an Ikea or Homegoods find?

That orchid looks fantastic (and practically fake)!
