Winter Blooms

Well, my garden is a little dreary now that winter is in full force. My hellebores that I bought at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden's sale last spring still add some green to my front garden and promise to bloom come January or February. In my backyard, my rosemary plant is still standing strong and my pear tree is turning the most beautiful shade of dusty gold.

Inside, I've had to say goodbye to my dear little China doll tree that has unfortunately bit the dust after over ten years. I think my new house has too little light inside to give her what she needed. Very sad. On a brighter note, my little Christmas cactus that I've had for just a few years is getting ready to show her stuff and bring some life to these winter days. I have had her in the bathroom since I moved in and I think she likes the humidity. She doesn't get a whole lot of light, but something seems to be working - there are at least six or seven buds ready to pop!
