new lamps and cheap champagne

~ The living room decorating is progressing, albeit slowly. New accent pillows for the couch in lime green floral? Check. Walls painted? Check. Artwork hung? Lamps purchased? Hmm...

Last weekend, however, new lamps were tracked down at the wondrous HomeGoods in Woodbridge, Virginia. I really had no set idea of what kind of lamps were needed and I've yet to take the tags off these (can you tell I sometimes have a hard time making decisions?) but I have a feeling they are keepers. Slightly different pink pattern than the walls, but I think I like that. Eventually I plan to have the wing chair and its ottoman recovered in navy blue linen or duck cloth. See that still life above the chair? It was purchased for $2 and has become the central inspiration for the living room makeover.

~ This past weekend I made a much-needed trip to Trader Joe's to stock up on frozen organic vegetables and fruits, as well as sea salt, bubbly water, and other 'necessities'. Oh how I wish a TJ's would find its way to Fredericksburg. I plan on writing a letter to ask them to come on down - there is a perfect storefront downtown that would be a great location (for me at least!).

~ A couple of girlfriends came over for the Golden Globes on Sunday. We had cheap champagne in my great-grandmother's etched champagne bowls. Delightful.

HomeGoods is the best! The inexpensive mirrors and lamps is why I keep going back. I really like the lamp with the patterned shade. I say keep it!

You were at HomeGoods and you didn't call me? For shame! (Though CH is ever so grateful, for he feels we have enough stuff in our house already, thankyouverymuch)
The living room is looking fabulous, by the way.

Speaking of TJ's, have you tried their chocolate pudding? It's crazy good. And I don't even like pudding!

Thanks for all the votes in the positive! I'll maybe take the tags off soon. Really.

@L - I'll call next time. I promise!

@PLL - I'll need to pick up the pudding next time - funny thing is that I actually looked at the box and then put it back thinking, eh, it'll probably taste all grainy. Now I know!
