growing: the proper primrose

Today promises to be a glorious day - 70 degrees and sunshine. A perfect day except for the fact that I must go to work instead of being out and about enjoying the weather. Drat. It is difficult sometimes to be a grownup with bills to pay.

My parents are coming to visit this weekend, and that means I need to do a little house cleaning before their arrival. I try not to wait until the last minute to give the bathroom a scrub, but invariably when I get home from work the last thing I want to do is scrub a bathroom. Go figure.

I have some apples that I would like to do something with, but I'm not sure what. I'm thinking of some applesauce muffins that I can store in the freezer for quick morning meals on the go. Something I think Dad would enjoy for breakfast while he's here as well. So add that to the list.

The latest garden discovery was this primrose that I bought last winter and then planted in the garden. I wasn't sure it was going to make it, but it looks like it did. Of course my grandmother's primroses just 1 hour north of here have been blooming for weeks. But I love an underdog.

I need to remember to take a jar to work with me today. I think today is a perfect day to confiscate some of the daffodils growing in the woods around my office.
